Charity and Community
Each year we select a local charity or two charities to be the recipient of our charity partner opportunity. We seek to maximise the charity partnership through providing mall space and opportunities for colleagues to engage and support in fundraising activities and events. Our charity partners for 2023 (June) to 2024 ( EO May) are: Berkshire Vision and Starting Point. Berkshire Vision was established in 1910 so in total have been supporting the visually impaired in Berkshire for an incredible 110 years! The charity provide vital practical and friendly support, sport and activities to visually impaired children and adults and their families across the Berkshire county. Each year they help hundreds of people to develop confidence and live independent lives safely and are also well known for their befriending services. Starting Point charity was first started in 2012 and work tirelessly to transform the lives of young people who face disadvantage and hope to offer them a better starting point for building a brighter and more hopeful future. The charity achieve this by delivering programmes to facilitate volunteers which then support young people and also utilise support from local businesses. A key aspect of their work includes the Advance and Aspire Mentoring programmes and the charity helps a wide range of different groups of young people. For example, this could include those who are at risk of/ involved in crime and youth violence or for those aged 13-24 who are admitted to A&E and need wider community support or those who need mock interviews/ work placement assistance etc. For more information on Starting Point, please click here.
